Castelli men's AW25 jacket range guide
To enjoy riding in the colder months of the year, you’ll need a jacket that protects you from the wind and rain, without limiting airflow so that you end up soaked with sweat, and neither restricts your movement nor flaps loosely in the wind.
You’ll also need to consider whether the temperature rating meets your needs. The jacket may be roomy enough to add layers under to extend its range, or it may have vents or craftily placed zips that will let you adjust its temperature on-the-move. It may also be easily packable, so that if you start to get hot or cold, you’ll have the option to stow or wear it.
Whether you’re a racer looking for a closely fitting, aero protective layer, a café rider wanting to easily crank up or dial down the warmth, depending on the conditions, terrain and what stops you take, or an adventurer looking for maximum weatherproofing, Castelli has the jacket for you.
We've evaluated the range to help you pick the right jacket for your ride.
Men's Castelli jackets comparison

Perfetto RoS 3
Principal fabric: Polartec® AirCore™
Temperature range: 4-14°C
Rain protection: 2/3, light rain
Wind protection: 2/3

The Perfetto RoS 3 was conceived to do it all, being warm, highly water and wind resistant but also breathable. Now, with the inclusion of Castelli-exclusive Polartec® AirCore™, it is even more breathable, while still being incredibly protective and also stretchy enough to give a close-to-body fit, without feeling tight.
Choose it for cool weather riding on showery, unpredictable days.
Alpha RoS 150
Principal fabric: Polartec® AirCore™ and Polartec® Alpha
Temperature range: -2-10°C
Rain protection: 2/3, light rain
Wind protection: 2/3

The Alpha RoS 150 benefits from the weatherproofing and breathability of Polartec® AirCore™, but with the use of Polartec® Alpha™ in tandem, keeps you even warmer. Its clever multi-layer setup gives you control over your temperature, as you can zip the insulation layer only, the outer protective layer only, or both together on foul, cold days.
This is the jacket for you if you’re looking to ride all winter long in comfort.
Competizione
Principal fabric: Polartec® AirCore™ membrane
Temperature range: -4-10°C
Rain protection: 2/3, light rain
Wind protection: 2/3

Benefitting from protective Polartec® AirCore™, the Competizione Jacket is made from the 298g variety, rather than the 150g type found in other jackets, with a fleece inner layer besides, so it’s extra warm and cosy. As protective and breathable as the other two jackets, it also features 360° reflectivity, making it a good choice for riding in town.
If you suffer from the cold but like to train year-round, this regular fit jacket will suit.
Entrata 2
Principal fabric: Warmer fleece
Temperature range: 6-15°C
Rain protection: 2/3, light rain
Wind protection: 2/3

The Entrata 2 Jacket is very protective, featuring the 298g variety of Polartec® AirCore™, but only carries this weather resistance at the front and sleeves, with the back being constructed from breathable Warmer fabric. It’s therefore very airy and is suitable for use at higher temperatures than the jackets mentioned above.
Wear it when it’s cool or cold, but not freezing, and there’s a chance of showers.
Espresso Air
Principal fabric: Ristretto Warm
Temperature range: 0-10°C
Rain protection: 2/3, light rain
Wind protection: 2/3

The regular fit Espresso Air Jacket is made from protective fabric that is also very stretchy, so you’ll be able to move and change positions easily while staying warm and dry. It’s fleece lined, for extra cosiness, and partnering with membrane and lamination expert ITTTAI® has ensured that this breathable fabric is great at repelling rain and wind.
This is your comfortable, anytime riding jacket for when it’s cold and foul but not icy.
Perfetto Air
Principal fabric: Ristretto Lite
Temperature range: 5-15°C
Rain protection: 1/3, wet roads
Wind protection: 2/3

Rain resistant and effective at repelling wind, the Perfetto Air is constructed from Lite rather than Warm Ristetto, making it a better choice for cool to mild days when the roads are likely to be wet, but you’re reasonably sure that it won’t rain. If it does, this jacket is light enough that you can pop a rain cape over it.
Stay dry and warm in hinge season with this lightly protective, relatively slender jacket.
DO.DI.CI.
Principal fabric: Ristretto
Temperature range: 8-15°C
Rain protection: 1/3, wet roads
Wind protection: 2/3

Benefitting from Ristretto Lite, the DO.DI.CI. Jacket sports a race fit for those who are looking to shave seconds in cool conditions. Its name, which means 12 in Italian, comes from the fact that the Ristretto allows 12 times more airflow than in previous Perfetto jackets – just enough for stellar moisture management.
Wear it when it’s cold and gusty, with wet roads, and you’re looking to get racy.
Gabba R
Principal fabric: Castelli exclusive polyurethane membrane
Temperature range: 4-18°C
Rain protection: 3/3, heavy rain
Wind protection: 3/3

Designed for racing in the rain, this breathable, light and very stretchy jacket is not only ‘functionally waterproof’, but incredibly aerodynamic too. Not only did it test 4.5% faster than Castelli’s best rain jacket in the wind tunnel but also 1% faster than the Sanremo BTW speed suit in normal road positions, being just 1% slower in aero positions.
Grab this foul-weather aero jacket to get a rain cape, windproof and speed suit in one.
Ultra Rain Cape
Principal fabric: Polartec® Power Shield RPM
Temperature range: 4-18°C
Rain protection: 3/3, heavy rain
Wind protection: 3/3

Made for use with a jersey or one of Castelli’s light, splash resistant Ristretto jackets, the Ultra Rain Cape is fully waterproof and highly windproof, but also packable and stretchy enough to fit snugly over layers of different thicknesses. It avoids being restrictive or flapping in the wind and packs handily into a hidden pocket if the rain stops.
Bring it on any cool ride when you’re not sure what the weather will do, just in case!
Emergency 3 Rain
Principal fabric: Castelli 3-Layer Deluge
Temperature range: 5-18°C
Rain protection: 3/3, heavy rain
Wind protection: 3/3

Fully waterproof and highly windproof, the Emergency 3 Rain Jacket offers 360° reflectivity, making it perfect for commuting, murky conditions or when the light fades. It’s slightly heavier than the Rain Cape, since it has three layers instead of four, but is still packable and feels great against the skin, thanks to a knit polyester inner.
Bring it for emergency use or wear it all day when it’s foul; it won’t let you down.
Squall SHELL
Principal fabric: Stretch 2-Layer with DWR membrane
Temperature range: 4-18°C
Rain protection: 3/3, heavy rain
Wind protection: 3/3

This extra light jacket is windproof and rainproof, plus it packs into a pocket and features a reflective stripe down the back, to help keep you safe in low light. Perfect for sudden cloudbursts or routes with lots of downhills, this jacket will stretch to accommodate all body shapes and has elastic at the waist and wrist to combat draughts.
Choose it if you’re expecting quick spells of rain and don’t want to carry extra weight.
Aria Shell
Principal fabric: Ultralight windproof woven microfibre
Temperature range: 10-18°C
Rain protection: 1/3, light rain
Wind protection: 3/3

Primarily a breathable windbreaker but sporting sufficient water resistance to keep you comfortable on wet roads, the Aria Shell Jacket is tailored to fit close to the body, so that it won’t slow you down. It packs down into its own pocket, making it ideal for emergency use on downhills or if the wind picks up, then stowing if the conditions change again.
Don it on cool days with gusts and wet roads or wear it over a warm layer for extra range.
Squadra Stretch
Principal fabric: Coated ripstop nylon
Temperature range: 10-18°C
Rain protection: 1/3, light rain
Wind protection: 3/3

The Squadra Stretch is a windbreaker first and foremost, but able to cope with spray from wet roads. It has a protective body and sleeves, so that the surfaces most exposed to the wind when you ride will deflect it, while knitted stretch side panels and back of sleeves will ensure moisture and heat are dispersed when you’re working hard.
Grab it when you need a layer of packable wind protection on cool days.
