PRODUCT DETAILS

The Abbey Bike Tools Team Issue Modular Bearing Press is a perfect tool for any team mechanic who regularly presses in bottom brackets and headsets. The press head includes a thrust bearing, complete with balls and races, that carries Abbey's signature finger spline grip pattern to facilitate traction.

There's also a 6mm hex on the top, allowing an Allen key to be used for extra leverage where fittings are tight. Either way, the tool will work with a beautifully smooth, effortlessly light press action that is nonetheless firm enough to reliably press in cups with tight tolerances.

The half-inch acme thread used for the press shaft is robust and coarse enough to minimise the amount of turning action needed, while the patented, magnetic Quick Nut at the end of the press will slide up the shaft without resistance and endless spinning, then click handily into place. Meanwhile, the included centring cone ensures that the press and bore will line up perfectly.

The whole kit is light and compact enough to carry easily in a travelling case, so is perfect for use by team mechanics. Abbey Bike Tools' own well-crafted and precisely fitting headset and bottom bracket drifts, which will ensure a consistently straight bearing installation, are sold separately.

Key features:

  • Substantial thrust bearing on press head ensures smooth action
  • 6mm hex on top allows use of Allen key for added leverage
  • 12" press shaft with 1/2" acme thread is robust and works without excessive turning
  • Patented magnetic Quick Nut slides onto shaft without resistance, then clicks into place
  • Recommended for use installing bearings one at a time
  • Tailored drifts are not included but are sold separately
  • All parts crafted at Abbey Bike Tools' Bend, Oregon HQ
