ENVE is set to re-enter the World Tour with UAE Team Emirates, supplying both the men’s team and UAE Team ADQ women’s team with ENVE’s complete wheel and handlebar offerings.
“After a short hiatus from World Tour racing, we couldn’t be more excited about our new partnership with UAE Team Emirates. For ENVE, partnerships at this level are all about product development and validation as the world’s best riders take ENVE product to the extreme use case and provide invaluable real-world feedback that helps inspire the direction for future products and technologies,” says Jeremy Venz, Managing Director at ENVE.
UAE are very selective with its equipment partners and underwent both objective and subjective testing when it came to selecting its wheel partner. Through Wind Tunnel testing and real-world riding of several of the industry’s leading aerodynamic wheel brands, UAE chose ENVE’s SES line as the outright leader due to its Real-World Fast performance that strives for the perfect combination of aerodynamics, rolling resistance and weight.
“In our team we are always looking at ways of innovating and using the best possible material on the market. The decision to choose ENVE came after much testing both on the road and in the wind tunnel and we came to the conclusion these wheels were among the very best available. We are very pleased to partner with a quality brand like ENVE and look forward to working towards many victories together in the years ahead,” said Mauro Gianetti, UAE Emirates Principal & CEO.
The move gives UAE Team Emirates access to the full SES tubeless wheel line-up for racing and the Foundation range for training. With Tadej Pogacar aiming to reclaim his Tour De France title this year, he will have the choice of the ultra-lightweight SES 2.3 for the mountains, SES 6.7 for time trials and the SES 3.4 and 4.5 for everything in-between.
ENVE introduced the SES AR in 2016 and was the first wheel designed to provide aerodynamic efficiency around high-volume tubeless tires. Since then, elements of the SES AR rim design have become core performance elements across the entire SES line-up. During this time and proven efficiencies, it is now not uncommon to find high-volume tubeless tyres on pro riders bikes, with riders opting to race 28mm tyres shows a significant shift in equipment choice. ENVE’s early adoption of the wide rim profile is something that has helped the SES line to differentiate itself from its competitors in the wind tunnel and on the road.
Up front riders will have the choice of ENVE’s SES aero Road bar, SES AR and Compact Road handlebars along with ENVE’s stems that feature ENVE’s In-Route System that allows for internal routing to perfectly mate them to Colnago’s internally routed V3RS frames.
Already kicking off the season, UAE Team Emirates and UAE Team ADQ is racing Australia’s Tour Down Under from January 12th through to the 21st as its first race of the new 2023 season.
