Sidi can celebrate another Classics win this season following Michael Valgren’s victory in the Amstel Gold Race.

The Danish rider took out the 53rd edition of the Dutch classic thanks to a bold attack in the last 2km. Sitting in a group of favourites including Sagan, Valverde, Wellens, Alaphilippe and Fuglsang, Valgren blasted away down the narrow roads of the race’s finale.

While the big names looked to Sagan to chase, a savvy Roman Kreuziger, a previous victor on the Cauberg went after the Astana rider while two-time Amstel Gold Race winner, Enrico Gasparotto from Sidi-sponsored Bahrain-Merida was caught in no-man’s land in between the two leaders and the pack.

In the end, Valgren managed to force Kreuziger in front during that last few hundred metres and sprang out from behind the Czech rider to add Amstel Gold Race victory to his Omloop Het Nieuwsblad title earlier this spring. Gasparotto followed up to take third.

The final podium put Sidi shoes in first and third place, Valgren opting for the Sidi Wire Carbon while Gasparotto wore Sidi Shots in the white, red and gold livery of Bahrain-Merida.
