Silca SuperPista: Up Close

Silca's SuperPista floor pump is a love letter to the company's Italian history that also epitomises the modern US-brand's precision design. In short, it's both beautiful and practical – and we couldn’t wait to show it off in loving detail.

It’s only when you get up close that you can really appreciate the Silca team’s design genius. From the long, svelte barrel to the delicate-looking outer weave, belies the strength of the Ballistic Nylon Overbraid hose, every detail has been perfected. The kiln-dried, machined beech handle is a particular standout.

Ultra-smooth to the touch, it feels perfect in the hand while the wood grain peeking through the recessed Silca logos adds to the understated classiness on show throughout.

Silca is a byword for quality and the pump’s heft is testament to this, the thick base utterly stable with incredible finish quality on the underside, which includes embossed Silca logos and three floor-protecting elastomer furniture feet.

The pump’s push-on Presta chuck is – dare we say it – an improvement on the original thanks to the addition of a pressure relief button, helping you find that perfect psi in partnership with the 75mm gauge, which boasts an industry-beating accuracy of two per cent and ultra-high contrast printing.

It looks fantastic and works beautifully. The red and just-off-black colouring is gorgeous – the pride of any workshop – and we can’t help but think this could soon be a favourite canvas for bespoke frame painters.
