“This bike embodies the perfect fusion of versatility and performance. It’s an E-MTB that every rider will enjoy. The Shuttle AM hits that all-mountain sweet spot.” Chris Cocalis, Founder and CEO of Pivot
For the 2023 season, I decided to step away from my trusty S Works Tarmac SL7 and try out the new ENVE Melee.
The latest addition to the Shuttle range, the AM is an all-mountain masterpiece in the E-mountain bike category. Exhibiting the perfect mixture of qualities for all-mountain riding, it delivers the optimum balance of lightweight agility with long travel capability. It will handle every type of terrain with ease, from fast-flowing singletrack to steep bike park descents.
At the heart of the all-new Shuttle AM is the latest Bosch Performance drive system. The range-topping Team build goes one step further by using the limited-edition Performance CX Race motor. Its speedy race mode reveals the Shuttle AM’s true potential for E-MTB racing, with an extended Boost for extra kick.
The CX Race drive system provides a powerful 85Nm of maximum torque, giving the Shuttle AM lightning-quick acceleration after tight singletrack turns and allowing it to make short work of steep ascents.
Pivot has selected Bosch’s 750Wh battery to power its Team and Pro builds, with the Bosch wireless remote completing their clean finish.
Both builds have the option to add the Bosch PowerMore Range Extender, a water bottle-sized additional battery that allows 250Wh of extra power, giving you the range to hit that last run at the bike park.
The Bosch Performance line motor is a smart system, which means you can keep the motor up to date using the customised Bosch x Pivot Cycles Flow app.
This smart system allows you to select from four pre-loaded modes, while three further modes can be swapped on request by your Pivot dealer. Using these options, you can adapt the Shuttle AM’s assistance levels to suit your riding style and the terrain.
Pivot has pre-installed the Pro build with Turbo, E-MTB-Shortcrank, Sport and Tour+ modes. The Team build, with the CX Race motor, comes with the powerful Race mode in place of Tour+.
The easy-to-use Bosch x Pivot Cycles Flow app comes with additional features, including maintenance interval notifications based on mileage and a display of real-time charge percentages, as well as your estimated range.
Pivot has tuned the dw-link® with Fox to give you total confidence and control, with enough platform for a lively feel and pedal efficiency, alongside enough progression to crush technical terrain and land the biggest drops in the bike park.
The dw-link® has proven itself to be the perfect partner for Pivot’s E-MTBs by providing the optimal amount of anti-squat to harness the full power of the drive system, while giving great traction and suspension performance.
Vertical shock layout
The vertical shock layout enables Pivot to design a more compact frame that is both stiffer and lighter, while providing for increased tunability of the Shuttle AM’s kinematics. In addition, the design allows for full-size water bottle clearance (or installation of a range extender) on all sizes of frame, alongside the lowest stand-over heights possible.
Flip chip adjustability
Pivot’s flip chip allows riders to choose the High or Low setting to configure the geometry to match their riding style and the trail conditions. On the Shuttle AM, moving from High to Low changes the BB height from 35.0cm to 34.5cm and steepens the head and seat angles by 0.4 degrees.
The Pro and Team level builds feature a Fox Factory Float X rear shock, providing 148mm of rear travel, and a Fox Factory 36mm Grip 2 fork with 160mm of travel up front.
Pivot Dock system
Pivot has teamed up with Topeak to offer an exclusive on-the-bike tool system that sits neatly under the top tube. The Dock system allows you to fit the Dock Ninja Co2, Dock Ninja Tool Box T16+ (16 tool system) or Dock Ninja Tool Box Mini 20 Pro.
In line with Pivot’s Shuttle range, the AM is available in a choice of build options to suit your riding style. The range topping Team build is a no-compromise affair, with SRAM’s new XX Eagle Transmission, Shimano’s powerful XTR M9120 brakes, stiff, lightweight carbon E-cranks and wheels, with a Fox Factory suspension.
The Pro build uses SRAM’s XO Eagle Transmission, Shimano’s 4-piston XT M8120 brakes, Praxis Alloy E-Cranks, DT Swiss EB1535 wheels and Fox Factory suspension.
The Shuttle AM will be available shortly from all Pivot Cycles dealers. In the meantime, here are further details on the full Shuttle AM range.
