Based on the Aero Race 6.1 Jersey and the Free Aero RC Pro Bibs, and decorated with its namesake pro team’s branding, the Castelli Soudal Quick-Step Sanremo RC Speed Suit combines the aerodynamics of a TT suit with the comfort of road attire.
The top half of the suit has been engineered for speed, with CFD analysis having prompted the placement of the fabric and seams to achieve aero optimisation at 30-55kmh.
Airflow shoulder construction and fitted, elbow-length, raw-cut sleeves will further hurry you on your way, as will the use of slippery fabrics at the front and sleeves. Meanwhile, a mesh back allows all that heat you’ve built up with your efforts to escape and keeps you dry.
The bottom half of the suit puts comfort front and centre. The stretch fabric it’s made of offers useful muscle support and is also wearable, especially since the shorts have been purposely constructed with minimal seams, to achieve a relatively smooth finish. The legs, too, forfeit potentially rough silicone grips, instead relying on their own stretch to keep the soft, raw-cut endings anchored.
Build around the performance Progetto X² Air Seamless seat pad, with its luxurious padding and smooth finish, the shorts are finished off with reflective piping that will enhance your visibility when riding on busy roads in low light. Useful rear pockets round off a suit that is as suitable for club rides as for racing, being simultaneously fast and practical.
