Dialled-in for speed
The Firebird’s geometry is designed to maximise its race day speed, with a relaxed head angle promoting control and manoeuvrability, while a long reach maximises your comfort and creates room for a Super Boost Plus wheelbase. This means more traction and better confidence at high speeds, not to mention better climbing stability.
As well, the chainstays are size-specific, ensuring that every frame and every rider benefits not only from consistent stability at speed, but also a high level of responsiveness that is equal to twisting, obstacle strewn trails.
Super-capable suspension
At the rear, you’ll benefit from a plush 165mm of travel, facilitated by an extra-long dw-link®, inspired by Pivot’s Phoenix DH downhill bike. Supple yet progressive, it works with the 170mm of fork travel to absorb hits like a pro, while combatting pedal bob so that you can ‘just ride’.
The generous travel lets you ride faster, confident that the bike will spare you over tough ground, especially as the anti-squat action of the DW-Link means more traction at corners and better control. The suspension is also 4-way adjustable, which means it can be primed so the rebound and impact absorption levels match the terrain.
Fly like a bird
Like its mythical namesake, the Firebird has hollow bones – in fact, all Pivot bikes use the brand’s Hollow Core Carbon technology. The frames are hand built, using clever internal moulding to layer the carbon in a way that avoids imperfections, minimises weight and maximises strength.
The carbon lay-up is tailored for ride quality in every frame, too. Regardless of frame size, the geometry is tweaked and the carbon is arranged to achieve the same balance of stiffness with compliance, ensuring riders of all builds will enjoy the same benefits.
Made for you
The Firebird offers a range of opportunities to customise your ride feel. First, the geometry is adjustable with a flip chip upper link mount, so the head tube and seat tube angles can be changed and 27.5” wheels can be run if desired.
A generous seat post insertion depth and seat clamp enable it to take a 31.6mm seat post, the rear shock is ultra-adjustable and Fox Live Valve compatibility lets you finetune your suspension. Finally, the Super Boost Plus rear spacing not only adds stiffness and control but allows the frame to fit tyres up to 29x2.6” and 27.5x2.8”, if the terrain dictates.
Beauty with practicality
With its striking colour scheme, flawless proportions and full-length, internal cable routing, this bike will draw envious glances from every other rider on the trails. It’s got substance to back up the design choices, though. For instance, a vertically mounted trunnion shock leaves extra frame space.
You’ll therefore be able to stay hydrated on your ride, since there’s room for a full-sized water bottle, as well as the Pivot Tool Dock System. Compatible with integrated mounts on the top tube and down tube and available to purchase separately, this lets you keep all your essential tools close to hand.
