Castelli's ultra-versatile Perfetto Light jersey builds on the Gabba's heritage with a weatherproof yet highly breathable design for racing perfection.
The Perfetto Light is an evolution of the award-winning Gabba, the jersey that completely shook up the cycling industry upon its launch in 2011. Thanks to its weatherproof fabrics and aerodynamic racing cut, the Gabba was an instant hit with pro riders, who gained a genuine unfair advantage thanks to the protection it offered in cold or wet races, allowing them to achieve their best performances in spite of the conditions.
In fact, the Gabba was so popular that many non-Castelli sponsored riders were seen using it. Over the years, Castelli’s competitors have busied themselves trying to emulate the Gabba while the Gabba name itself has become shorthand for all weatherproof jerseys.
Now Castelli is changing the rules once again with the incomparable Perfetto Light, a garment designed following direct feedback from the Cannondale Pro Cycling team, whose riders wanted something protective but with more breathability for milder conditions. That’s just what Castelli has delivered. The Perfetto Light uses Gore Windstopper 150 fabric on the front, shoulders and sleeves, which is windproof and water resistant though 25 per cent lighter than that used on the original Gabba.
The back of the Perfetto Light utilises Nano Light Pro fabric, an un-brushed version of the fleecy warm Nano Flex material, which is also highly water repellent, stretchable and features maximum breathability thanks to a close knit that avoids chilly wind getting through, yet also prevents moisture build up when racing starts to heat up.
The Perfetto Light shares the Gabba’s slim, aero, racing cut and a dropped tail for extra protection in the damp. There are also three large rear pockets, a full-length zip that’s easy to operate with one hand and reflective detailing on the hem and pockets.
Castelli says the Perfetto Light covers 90 per cent of the conditions for which the Gabba and the Fawesome Vest would be used, making it ideal for spring and autumn use when it’s cool, but not too cold, or warm, but not too hot. Paired with some Nano Flex arm warmers, it could be perfect for those early sportives that start off cold and warm as the day goes on.
The Perfetto Light is available to buy now in drive blue, red, yellow fluo, sprint green and black in sizes small to XXXL.
