The new T3 Triathlon Team has its official launch, backed by Saddleback brands including Castelli, ENVE, HJC, Sidi, Peaty’s, Stages and Silca.
Created by the coaching duo of Mark Threlfall and Harry Palmer, the T3 Triathlon Team brings together two tiers of athletes – pros and age-groupers – in one training and racing team supported by some of Saddleback’s premier brands.
Mark started T3 coaching in 2012 and brings years of experience as a coach, elite athlete and GTN presenter. Fellow coach Harry Palmer is a recent convert to the pro Ironman 70.3 ranks and host of the Harry and Chris YouTube channel.
“The team has been something I’ve wanted to do all along,” says Mark. “And now, with the support of Saddleback… it just seemed a really obvious time to take it to the next level and set the team up.”
For year one, the elite team includes four athletes who are all fully supported with Saddleback products.
2016 European Champion India Lee has recently moved up to Ironman 70.3 and has already won three events at the distance and placed 11th at the world champs. She recently claimed sixth at the 70.3 Middle East champs to clinch 2020 World Championship qualification.
Neo-pro Harry Palmer moved from age-grouper to pro for 2019 and has scored three top-10 performances in his first year at Ironman 70.3 Stafforshire, 70.3 Dún Laoghaire and 70.3 Weymouth.
Former age-group European champ, Eloise du Luart is now focused on middle-distance triathlon, scoring a top-five in her first start at Ironman 70.3 Finland last year. Now coming back to fitness after injuries in 2019, Eloise is looking forward to a strong 2020 season.
Draft legal ITU racer Will Crudginton is the team’s off-road specialist and will be trying his hand at X-terra in 2020 along with pursuing his Ironman 70.3 pro licence.
These four top-tier athletes are joined by a likeminded group of age-groupers from seasoned Ironman competitors to first-time triathletes.
Saddleback is supporting the team with Castelli race kit, ENVE wheels, Stages power meters, HJC helmets, Sidi shoes, Silca pumps and accessories and Peaty’s cleaning products. Our brands join Precision Hydration, BlueSeventy and Strength For Endurance on the striking team kit, which was designed by Saddleback’s Castelli Servizio Corse manager Darren Gumm – who runs our custom kit programme.
“Not only did we want to give our team members really good coaching but also provide them with the best brands out there,” says Harry. “Having the sponsors we’ve got gives people confidence because they’re leaders in their respective industries… we also want to offer the athletes loads of different services so they benefit massively from the team.”
The main focus of the T3 Team is creating a community for both local and international athletes and creating opportunities to come together for training and racing, both in the UK and overseas. With tailored coaching, team-only training camps and access to an amazing selection of kit at exclusive rates, it’s an attractive setup for any age-grouper looking for a new coaching setup.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Mark and Harry on the T3 Team,” says Saddleback marketing manager Declan Deehan. “It’s a great opportunity to help support both the elite and grassroots growth of the sport and we couldn’t ask for a more passionate group of ambassadors who will also test our products to the limit.”
