The 2025 Sidi Size Guide

In 2025, Sidi celebrates its 65th anniversary. There are few brands in the cycling industry that have so much history behind them, while still directly influencing the shape of today’s sport.

Sidi is renowned for making beautiful, hand-crafted shoes using traditional, artisan techniques. The majority of its shoes are still made in Italy, using the same techniques favoured by some of the most luxurious fashion cobblers in the world.

Such craftsmanship is a skill, passed down from generation to generation, which is what makes Sidi unique amongst its competitors. However, racing is what drives Sidi and creating the highest performance shoes for its athletes is paramount, with pro feedback on the fit, stiffness and technology all playing a key part in the brand’s development.

Is it true that Sidi shoes are small?

When the company was founded 65 years ago, it was a ‘badge of honour’ to have narrow shoes, as it apparently indicated the low body fat build associated with pro riders.
Over the years, our understanding of physiology and ergonomics has meant that this perception has become outdated. Over the past 20 years, Sidi’s shoes have gradually become larger, with every new model receiving a larger last. If you were to compare last year’s Shot 2 to the Wire from 10 years ago, for instance, you would notice a significant difference.

So, were Sidis small? The answer is of course subjective, as some riders need and prefer a narrower shoe. However, with casual trainers becoming larger and orthopaedic insoles becoming normalised during bike fits, the need for larger shoes has become apparent.

In 2025, Sidi made the biggest update to its range in its long and prestigious history.

Fresh manufacturing techniques and cutting-edge technology have been integrated into the latest models, giving a new aesthetic and level of performance to the brand.Within this update, a new last has been employed across the new models, featuring Millennium Fit. This fit creates a higher volume around the toe box, both in width and height, to allow more ‘spread’ of your toes. It also means wider custom insoles will fit more easily, as there is more space.

The Millennium Fit, however, doesn’t affect the back of the shoes, so foot retention remains high from the middle towards the back.

All of the new 2025 and 2026 shoes feature this updated fit.

Using your current casual or cycling shoes is always a good benchmark to start working out what size of shoe you require.

For example, I am a size 44 in all my casual shoes and have been running a 44 in all my Sidis for the past five years. I now wear the Ergo 6 and Asper Laces models, which feature the Millennium Fit, and still use a size 44.

So, what has changed? The length of the shoes remains the same, but I now have more space for my toes, creating less pressure and reducing ‘hot spots’ on the outside during warmer rides. My custom insoles also fit better, thanks to the higher volume of the shoes.

An often-overlooked sizing tip with Sidi is that the sole length of a whole size and a half size (44 and 44.5) is the same, however, the upper on the half size has more fabric, to allow a larger volume for width and height.

This means that, if you find the length of a 44 works well for you, but you need more volume to fit wider feet or more height for a higher instep or orthopaedic insole, then going for the 44.5 is your best bet. Moving up to a 45 will make the shoe both longer and slightly wider, which could then introduce heel lift.

FAQS

What about Sidi shoes for extra wide feet?

Historically, Sidi has created a ‘Mega’ fit for some shoes, which offers a higher volume fit. This is still used for shoes which haven’t been updated and feature the non-Millennium fit. However, due to the substantial increase in volume on all new 2025 and 2026 shoes, ‘Mega’ fit is no longer required.

Do Sidi Road and MTB shoes fit the same?

The MTB range from Sidi fits exactly the same way as the road one. The uppers on both the road and MTB ranges are the same, it is just the soles that change. So, the above size guide is applicable to MTB shoes.

What about women’s sizing?

Whilst the women’s-specific shoes do go down to smaller sizes, they have sizes which overlap with the unisex models. So, which is right for you? The women’s specific models have a more tapered last, to reflect research carried out by Sidi. However, if you have a wider foot, then stick to the unisex models.

Like any item of clothing, personal preference with fit will play a big part in which size you feel comfortable in. Foot shape, sock thickness and pressure preference (along with other aspects) will all have an effect on this. Ultimately, finding the size which fits most comfortably is key.
