The Troy Lee Designs A1 Classic MIPS Helmet has been awarded a 5-star rating in a comprehensive Virginia Tech impact test.

Researchers at Virginia Tech worked in collaboration with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety to test over 60 helmets for their ability to reduce concussion risk and awarded the A1 MIPS the classification ‘Best Available’, topping their ‘Mountain’ helmet category.

Virginia Tech’s impact tests are the culmination of a 10-year research programme and can reliably identify a helmet’s ability to reduce linear acceleration and rotational velocity – which translates into a lower risk of concussion.
