Mountain biking spans multiple disciplines, from trail riding and cross country to Enduro, downhill and freeride, each with their own skillsets and equipment requirements. To maximise performance, comfort and fun on the bike, the appropriate kit is always recommended. Read on to discover the qualities of each line in the TLD SS22 collection to find your Troy Lee Designs MTB kit match.

Troy Lee Designs Flowline

The Flowline range is a comfortable ride fit – that is, loose enough to allow full range of movement without being overly baggy – range that is designed with a casual aesthetic to look good on and off the bike. Made from moisture wicking and fast-drying fabrics, these mid-weight shorts, long or short sleeved jerseys and gloves are designed to keep you comfortable all day on the hills. The fit and feel are quality, while COOLMAX fabric will ensure that you’ll stay dry even when it’s hot and you’re riding hard. The Flowline range is a great investment for any trail rider looking to combine high performance with subtle style.

The Drift range is TLD’s lightest, using some of the brand’s latest technology to create a true performance range. The long or short sleeve Drift jerseys feature a top half of hardy nylon, which protects against wind and brambles alike, and a lower half made from highly breathable, quick drying feather-knit. They’re therefore up for the challenge of full days on the bike or bikepacking, but best worn in warm weather. The hardy, cool theme continues with shorts cut long enough to cover protective pads. No-stitch cuffs and hems up the comfort level of this casual, subtly branded range, available in clean, simple carbon and blue shades.

Troy Lee Designs Skyline

The casual yet highly technical Skyline range is one of Troy Lee’s most popular. Available in muted or vivid colours, it includes trousers, shorts and a choice of short, full length or three-quarter length sleeve jerseys made from light, stretchy polyester knit fabric. Adopting a relaxed ride fit, this kit is light, wearable, wicks moisture superbly and won’t hamper your movements. The trousers have vents behind the knees, while both the Troy Lee Designs Skyline Shorts and the MTB trousers have a two-way stretch panel at the rear for breathability. Best worn with slim or no pads, you’ll forget you’re wearing Skyline kit, making it perfect for Enduro or trail riding.

The Skyline Air range takes its twin Skyline range as a baseline model, then adds an extra dose of comfort and a huge amount of ventilation. Made from highly perforated fabrics, the Skyline Air range is designed to provide unparalleled comfort during the warmer summer months. The Troy Lee Designs Skyline Air Jersey features a comfortable neckline and a mesh front that is stretchy and soft, while the shorts include a two-way stretch rear panel that offers ventilation and great fit. Quick-drying and with an athletic fit, this line is perfect for serious cross-country riders or anyone cycling long distances in the heat.

Be prepared for anything the trail throws at you with the Ruckus range. Designed for the gravity crowd, especially Enduro racers, the range only includes three-quarter length raglan sleeve jerseys, which will cover elbow pads, and shorts long enough to cover knee pads. The fit, too, is relaxed enough to allow space for all but the thickest protection. Thick, moisture wicking fabrics and a triple stitched rear seam on the shorts will stand up to offs, while a two-way stretch panel on the shorts and mesh side panels on the jersey will keep competitors cool and dry. TLD’s most technical, comfortable and hard-wearing trail outfit.

Troy Lee Designs Sprint

Immediately recognisable, with bold logos and bright colours, the TLD Sprint line is worn by the brand’s athletes to the top step of the world’s biggest races. Including long sleeved Troy Lee Designs jerseys and MTB trousers or shorts, with room for slim pads, the range adopts a slim-line race fit enhanced by stretch fabric, with tapered ankles to ensure you’ll stay clear of the pedals. There is also tougher material around the knees and a breathable section at the back of the lower leg. Light, hard-wearing fabrics will feel great as you ride. Wearing this kit, you’ll look stylish and feel dry and protected as you race.

Troy Lee Designs Sprint Ultra

The Sprint Ultra line is the technical pinnacle of the Troy Lee Designs SS22 collection. Made from TLD’s own tough yet light and stretchy Ultra Tech and Ultra Knit fabrics, the shorts, trousers and long sleeve jersey are designed to offer exceptional fit, ventilation and freedom. The Ultra Tech fabric sheds water, due to a DWR coating, and the Troy Lee Designs Sprint Ultra Pants are further set apart by perforations in the crotch and behind the knee, tapered ankles with a cow hide patch to resist chain wear, and sealed seams. The knees allow room for large pads, as does the cut of the wicking, breathable jersey. All in all, this race fit range for gravity fanatics is Ultra by name, ultra by nature.

Troy Lee Designs Lilium

The Lilium range mixes comfort with durability and performance, making it the perfect choice for ladies planning to spend all day exploring the trails or at the bike park. With richly coloured long and short sleeve Troy Lee Designs jerseys, MTB trousers and shorts, the line offers a precision fit that nonetheless stretches to allow free movement, not to mention accommodate feminine curves. Enhanced with UPF 30+ protection in the shorts and UPF 20+ in the jersey, with built-in vents, mesh and wicking material, it’s an airy, midweight collection that can cope with heat and ascents but also cooler weather.

Females MTBer shredding in TLD Luxe kit

Troy Lee Designs Luxe

The Luxe line was TLD’s response to the demand for ladies’ cycling kit as comfortable as yoga gear. With a hint of leopard print and cool, laid-back colours, it includes sleek tanks, gloves, shorts and trousers that prioritise fit and wearability. A dropped tail, vented side panels, loose knit and a UPF 20+ protective front panel make the tank ideal for warm-weather shredding, while flat locked seams up its comfort levels. The shorts and Troy Lee Designs MTB trousers, meanwhile, boast impressive UPF 50+ protection while also being stretchy and fitted. It’s a comfy, all-rounder range that will hold its own out on the trails.

Troy Lee Designs Mischief

The Mischief range is a hardy ladies’ collection that embraces TLD’s motocross style with its bright, racy looking colour scheme and race-ready performance fit. The three-quarter length sleeved Troy Lee Designs jerseys, with UPF 20+ protection, will conceal elbow pads and utilise wicking, quick drying fabrics, vents and mesh underarms to keep you cool when you’re riding your hardest. The durable MTB shorts, meanwhile, will also protect you from the sun – and more besides since they’re just long enough to cover the tops of knee pads. Wherever you choose to ride, the Mischief range is up to the challenge.
